Hog Roast - Hog Roasts - Pig Roast - Hog roast Caterer - Hog Roasting

Spitting Pig Hertfordshire is regarded as the first choice to many people planning a party when it comes to hog roast catering throughout Bedfordshire and the surrounding counties. Everybody loves a party in Kensworth and more importantly everybody wants to enjoy their own party. Spitting Pig Hertfordshire is here to help you with the catering side of things and ensure your day is stress free, relaxed and most importantly enjoyed by you. Silsoe has a very well supported bowls club who compete against neighbouring towns such as Wing and Tebworth. For the last four years, Spitting Pig Hertfordshire has been providing a spit roasted hog at the bi annual race night held in their small but cosy club house. This mouth watering feast of succulent roasted pork in a soft floured bap, with the crispiest golden crackling is served with an array of freshly prepared salads and hot new potatoes at the midpoint of the evening before the punters return to the club house to enjoy the rest of the evening at the races. A near neighbour of Silsoe is the town of Dunton, famously known for the downs... a series of chalk hills in the middle of a mainly flat and low lying area. Gliders float silently over head and parasending is a favourite past time and can be enjoyed by visitors walking the many paths and bridal ways.

Dunton is also the home of South Beds Golf Club, a lovely and challenging course with many hazards if you take to many risky shots. During an open day, which included a pro celebrity match and a visit by England’s top trick shot golfer, Spitting Pig Hertfordshire provided the hog roast which was enjoyed by a crowd of nearly one thousand. Heading further along the M1 motorway is the town of Toddington, where Spitting Pig Hertfordshire have provided the local football club with our Titan hog roast machine for their fund raising events on many occasions. A DIY hog roast is perfect if you want to keep costs to a minimum or if you fancy impressing your guests with your own cheffing skills. We simply arrange to deliver the Titan hog roast machine with gas and a prepared hog ready to cook. We will talk you through the safe and correct way to operate the machine and explain the best way to carve and leave you to impress your guests. A hog roast DIY is perfect if you are on a budget, maybe a fund raising event, or a hotel adding hog roast packages to their wedding menu’s. A few miles north are the most picturesque village of Woburn and neighbouring villages of Woburn Sands and Apsley Guise. Woburn is steeped with history and the many quaint shops and tea rooms are visited by holiday makers to the region. Of course the village is well known for the safari park which is home to a variety of endangered species and also the Abbey is visited by thousands of tourists annually. Spitting Pig Hertfordshire recently provided the wedding catering for a local couple who had the reception in the nearby village of Marston Mortaine.

The marquee for the wedding included a catering annex which was perfect for our team of chefs, assistants and silver service waiting staff. After our waitresses had served the guests with champagne as they arrived from the ceremony, canapés were enjoyed by all. The hog roast was accompanied by a lamb roast as well. The lamb was one of our butchers home reared lambs and would have grazed the fields and pastures of Langford. This delicious and tender lamb was stuffed with rosemary and garlic; a little oil rubbed over it and slowly roasted for about four hours and was served with red currant jelly and mint sauce, roasted new potatoes, an assortment of colourful and tasty salads and crusty rolls. A selection of scrumptious desserts of tart au citron, dark chocolate torte and strawberries and cream followed, before the guests partied in style to the live bandit is becoming popular to offer guests an evening feast and more people are moving away from the traditional buffet of sandwiches and cheese and pineapple on sticks and a BBQ of sausages, burgers and kebabs was later served by Spitting Pig Hertfordshire as guests tried to soak up the alcohol that had flowed freely throughout the day. To finish the evening of the BBQ was filled with banana’s that had been stuffed with chocolate buttons and roasted over the hot coals. These were served with thick fresh cream and a caramel sauce. The happy couple were cheered off by around two hundred very merry and extremely well catered friend s and family to enjoy their honey moon night in the luxurious Luton Hoo hotel before they got the early morning flight.

A hog roast conjures up images of medieval banquets enjoyed by kings and queens from yester year. Although the principle is the same, slowly cooking the hog while it slowly rotates over a fire, the Titan hog roast machines that we manufacture and supply are cutting edge technology and deliver perfect results every time we roast a hog for your event in Millbrook and other new towns such as Lower Stondon, Haynes and Eaton Bray. Whilst in Sandy we catered for a travelling medieval group who entertain crowds at village fete’s and put on displays at knebworth and other historic houses. We served the hog roast, stuffing and crispy crunchy crackling on large platters and the group had a couple of jesters who served the salads and potatoes to the tables. Real ale was provided and tricks, fire eating and knife throwing was enjoyed by all. Hog roast catering really does help with the ambience of any event and is guaranteed to bring any party to life, the aroma filling the air around your venue will greet your guests as they arrive, and will be a sure hit as friends gather and chat whilst watching the feast they are about to enjoy slowly cook before their eyes. Bedfordshire nestles neatly and is ideally situated between the capital and central regions of England on the major M1 motorway or A1 trunk road which stretches right up the country. Being within half an hour of central locations it is an ideal spot for commuters to both the city, and for businesses to locate for a central location to be able to compete nationally due to the links both by road, rail and air. Bedfordshire is a major hub for large national companies who take advantage of this prime location making the whole of the United Kingdom accessible. To the South lies Toddington. A multi cultural town, with major employment opportunities. Chalgrave is famously associated with the Airport, the third major airport in the South East of England and is a major gateway to Europe. With many low cost airlines favouring the airport it is expanding rapidly and travellers are up year on year. The neighbouring town of Wingfield lies at the foot of the chalk hills, these are commonly known as the downs and are the highest points in the area, overlooking some of the most beautiful country side, most of which is managed by the National trust.

If you are visiting the downs for a family day out, the gliders, paragliderers and hang gliders can be watched, sailing silently overhead whilst enjoying a picnic and taking in the marvellous views across to Eversholt. The hills are also ideal for children to fly kites because of the height and usual light winds and warm thermals. Also situated at the top the downs is Whipsnade Zoo, part of the ZSL charity which also owns other Zoo's and is devoted to helping the conservation of animals all over the world. There is a vast selection of animals, insects and birds on display and is a must for visitors who visit Kensworth. The downs are also famously known for the lion which is cut into the chalk hills and can be seen for miles. Stanbridge lies on the Gran Union Canal which runs for many miles and then branches north and south bringing great areas of tranquil natural beauty easily within reach. But at 4mph it is a rather slow journey, but as you are travelling through some of the most picturesque country side it is a lovely relaxing way of exploring what the south has to offer and with many pubs located along this major canal route offering local ales from breweries.

Travelling a little further north lies Woburn, a village steeped in Georgian history and famously known for the golf course which hosts many major tournaments and attracts some of the best golfers in the world. The Safari park is a must for a family day out to see animals in their own natural habitats. Woburn is also well known for the Abbey, which is open for visitors. Woburn Abbey also hosts major events and concerts by top artists. Elstow is located towards the north and is a suburb of the major town for the county. It has a large Italian population due to immigration in the 50’s and as a result has a very Italian feel to it with the restaurants and bars. Travelling back towards the South along the A1 smaller towns such as Blunham and Willington can be visited. These pretty little towns are ideal for commuters with great rail links and major roads. Blunham is well known for the RSPB, having its head quarters in the area and is open for daily visitsWe have just got back from catering a corporate Christmas party for an electronic company. It has been a good yet challenging day, simply because of the weather; we woke this morning to find six inches of snow had dropped over night. But the show must go on, after spending an hour getting our catering trailer off the industrial estate where we are based we set off to do a hog roast in Stevenage to feed a hundred very hungry electricians, but shortly after arriving on site we found that only half of the guests/ employees would need feeding as the rest could not get into work because of the snow. Nether the less we set up quickly and got our pig cooking.

After having a chat with John who ran the company we discovered that the people we were about to feed were electricians and sound technicians for festivals, and had set up stages and speakers for bands such as status quo, Robbie Williams, Mariah Carey and loads more stars. John had ordered a simple main course hog roast buffet from us which was the whole pig with apple sauce and stuffing, boiled baby new potatoes in herb butter, and some hot veg. It came to serve time and everyone was starving, there wasn’t a single plate that wasn’t clean, in fact the majority of people came back for seconds and some even came back for thirds, which is never a problem for us because we always bring loads of food. After everyone had had there fill, we cleared up leaving all the remaining pork for the guests to take home, there was still half a pig roast, we cleared everything away and took all the rubbish with us, the idea is that when we cater somewhere, the next day you could never tell we have been. With a job well done and lots of happy guests we loaded everything back into our trailer and set off back to our unit where everything will be cleaned and loaded up for another event tomorrow, just another day at the office in the life of a Hertfordshire hog roast caterer.
