Customers often ask us, have we got enough room out our event in the garden of our home for your machines and will they fit a catering marquee?
Or they also ask will the machine fit through the garden gate and down the path along side the garage?
Whatever the scenario, whatever the location, we’ve been there! Seen it and done it! And conquered it !!!!!
In fact one of our very first hog roasts in Stevenage, which was the first apart from practicing at home, was a Holy Communion at a church in Hemel Hempstead. We turned up about seven hours before serve time to set up and start cooking the pig, which was a good job because they where having the hog roast party at the bottom of a very long garden, and we had to get to the back of the garden through the house as the garage was full from top to bottom with all sorts of things and the side gate was to narrow. The doors in the hallway were unusually thin and we had to take the frame of the wall to get through. I must stress this is very out of the ordinary and not something we have come across again. Since then we have had a few tight squeezes but usually there is no problem gaining access.
We have worked in all sorts of places, from building sites to mansions.
At a hog Roast in Watford, the house was under going a really big extension at the front and back, there was no side access and the garden had just been excavated to build a drive. It’s a good job our Titan machine has big pneumatic tyres as we would have struggled with an inferior machine even to get out of the van and up the drive. Outside the front door, the builders had put up scaffolding to hold the up the porch roof, you could walk through it, but not enough space for the machine. In the end we had to move the scaffolding holding up the porch roof and support it with a couple of lengths of three by three posts then replace the scaffolding before the lot came down. Then getting to the garden was a three foot drop from the kitchen into the garden, again the builders materials came in handy and we built a make shift ramp to get the hog roast machine down. That was one night where we were actually stuck and could not get the machine out at the end of the night as the house was full of guests and we did not want to start making ramps and moving posts about. We had to return the next day to pick everything up. It is certainly never boring being a hog roast caterer in Hemel Hempstead.
