Wedding Hog Roast In Newton Blossomville!

Lisa and Edd’s wedding – Chilled out, soooo relaxed and just such a perfect day.

Spitting Pig Hertfordshire are today providing hog roast wedding catering in Newton Blossomville for Lisa and Edd. The name says it all….. location location location !! We are at Newton Park Barn. A lovely little wedding venue tucked away in the beautiful countryside. The venue is set on a farm with a small rustic barn with room for a small marquee on the side. A lovely orchard sits behind the barn with picturesque views where guests can mingle and chat whilst enjoying the views across the rolling hills on a lovely summer’s day. Lisa’s mum, Alison, was the main organiser and we all arranged to meet up at Lisa and Edd’s house which is near Milton Keynes as she lived in Cornwall. On the day Alison could not make it so we had a video conference call between us which was a bit of a first and all quite odd, but all went very well. Lisa and Edd had great delight eating the canapes and letting Alison and Peter know how delicious they were and just what they were missing out on. The menu was agreed, a schedule worked out and we booked them safely in the diary for their hog roast wedding in Newton Blossomville. From the first meeting with Lisa and Edd, we knew this would be a great day. Two lovely people, who are very relaxed and chilled, wanting a wedding day that is unique to them with a mix of sophistication and formality yet keeping the relaxed atmosphere that hog roast catering in Newton Blossomville brings to the day.…. The perfect spit roast recipe for success! We arrived at Newton Park Barn nice and early on the day. It was probably the hottest day in July and the venue just looked stunning. We were to cook and prepare in a small barn on the opposite side of the court yard which was a welcome relief as it was nice and cool and once the back doors were opened we had a lovely breeze keeping us nice and cool. Our waitresses set about setting the tables with crockery, cutlery, flowers and favours and chilled the wine and champagne. We also set up our mobile bar as we were providing the drinks for the day. Lisa and Edd arrived in a horse and carriage….. It was a rather grand entrance and they were greeted by the guests who sipped champagne and they all tucked into freshly made canapes that we had been busy preparing during the morning, such as grilled fillet of beef, smoked salmon and falafel bites which was a favourite of theirs from when they have been on holiday to Turkey many times over the years. Now, Spitting Pig Hertfordshire are well known as the local leading hog roast caterers in Herts, Beds and Bucks and normally pigs are the main course, but today the main meal was sirloin of beef and spit roasted chicken with an array of scrumptious freshly made salads and roasted new potatoes with rosemary and garlic. The top table was served by our waiting staff and all other guests came up to the serving tables and were served by our waiting staff in a very quick and professional service. Guests had seconds and third servings of the most succulent sirloin of beef which was cooked to perfection along with tender chicken that was seasoned with a dusting of Cajun pepper and olive oil. It was just so moist and flavorsome with the crispy skin which had just a little bit of bite to it. Speeches followed the main course and then we served the wedding cake as dessert. As wedding cakes go, this one ranked amongst the best we have had. I think it was an aunt that made it and I have to say she done them very proud. There was more to come though. The evening snack was the Newton Blossomville hog roast. I don’t know how they ate it as we had really filled them up with the canapes and main meal but it must be the fresh air…… The hog was devoured.
As you may have read in previous Spitting Pig Hertfordshire blogs, we have our own way of doing things when it comes to serving the hog roasts. The back end and loin are neatly sliced for those who like the leaner white meat, the belly and juicy meat from the ribs is for those who like the meat with what I think is the best flavour, and the shoulders are cooked a little longer and shredded for the popular pulled pork effect and mixed with a BBQ sauce or chilli and mint marinade. This mixture of flavours, colours and textures tantalise all taste buds and will make your hog roast experience a culinary delight and is so moreish….. It’s no wonder guests kept coming back time and time again until we were scraping the bones for the last noggins. As we cleaned up and packed away our hog roast catering equipment, the music and dancing carried on and the bar proved a big hit.
Once again Spitting Pig Hertfordshire are proud to be involved in such a lovely wedding and have helped make the wedding catering in Newton Blossomville such a huge success.
