Spitting Pig Hertfordshire are still working hard, providing hog roast catering in Harlow, on a cold but rather nice late November day. The party season is all but over now but people are still up for a good old knees up, and today we were spit roast catering for Steve who was celebrating his 40th Birthday with family and friends at his home in Harlow.
There is no reason not to have a great party in the winter. It is so easy to hire a marquee with a heater, get a band or disco, a dance floor and rustle up some mates and you can celebrate any occasion in style. Oh…. I nearly forgot one thing….Food. Most hog roast companies are starting to wind down now for a winter’s break but we are in such demand that we still have at least one event every weekend until Christmas as well as a few corporate hog roasts in London during the weeks leading up to the end of the year. We simply ask where you would like us to be and we get on with it. This time of year, when the gardens are a bit wet and boggy, it is best to site us as close to the house or marquee as possible. There is some thing about the hog roast event catering that just fascinates your guests and they were quite happy to stand in the cold with a beer and watch the hog slowly rotating, crisping up before their eyes and taking in deep breaths of the sweet aroma that was engulfing the back garden.

I teased them for about an hour before the hog was ready. Bang on time at eight o’clock.
As I snipped off the golden crunchy crackling a queue had formed and there was an echo of …..Do you need a crackling taster? I was handing out canapés of crackling as I started to carve the moist and tender pork into the buns and filled them with the piping hot stuffing and sweet apple sauce that compliments a hog roast so well.
Guests came back for seconds and thirds and so many people were commenting how great the hog roast was and asked for our business cards as they were thinking of a hog roast event next year.
