Birthday Hog Roast Standon

For Angelica’s 13th birthday, she asked her parents if she could have a hog roast Standon just like the one they had all loved at her cousin’s wedding last summer. The Spitting Pig had actually catered that wedding, so Angelica would be able to enjoy the same marvellous food, cooked by the same excellent team of caterers who take pride in their professional service and using only quality ingredients.

When Angelica’s parents called us to enquire about the birthday party, they were concerned about a gluten-free guest and needed to know if we could cater for such a dietary requirement. In fact, we can and often do, and this particular guest could still join in with the rest of the people enjoying our sublime pigs in buns, as all we needed to provide extra was some suitable bread rolls. Thankful and relieved, the birthday girl’s parents booked us in and I catered the event over the sunny weekend.

I could easily cater this fairly small affair by myself, as there were 12 guests in total. You may not know that we can cater for huge parties or ones with just a handful of people, so don’t be put off by the small or large amount of guests that you may have in mind, as we can happily help you celebrate whatever the number.

While the pig was roasting away in Angelica’s back garden on Sunday, the younger birthday guests were treated to an outdoor movie. As they sat on the blankets, the girls couldn’t resist but keep looking back at the hog roast StandonĀ , licking their lips and commenting on the tempting smells; one even commented that it was putting them off the film as they just couldn’t wait to eat! However, it takes a few hours to roast, so they had to wait it out.

Eventually, the hog was done and it looked and smelled terrific. As it rested, I sliced the fresh bread rolls and put the apple sauce and stuffing into their dishes alongside the condiments and serviettes. The guests happily munched on hog roast rolls that had lots of exceptional crackling and perfectly-cooked pork slices and Angelica said it had definitely been worth the wait.
