Radlett Cricket Club, Sue’s 40th Birthday bash. It’s a cold… cold…day at the start of the new year and Spitting Pig Hertfordshire are straight back to work after what seems a very short Christmas break.
But people still have Birthdays and celebrations of all kinds during the winter and what better way is there than to have a hog roast for your Birthday party.
Radlett Cricket Club is a lovely venue for a party to celebrate any occasion. It has a nice big function room with a bar and great kitchen facilities.
I should imagine that on a nice hot summer evening it is absolutely stunning…. Standing on the edge of the outfield of the pitch or on the patio with a nice pint and a mouth watering hog roast bap in the other hand…. Perfect.
Sue had around eighty guests for the evening and had made some salads to add to the hog roast that we were supplying.
We set up the hog roast in Radlett at about 2:00pm. We were serving at 8:00pm and the hog takes around six hours to cook. Spitting Pig Hertfordshire always spit roast our pigs and start cooking from fresh on site. We believe this adds the focal effect of a hog roast to your event and is a spectacle for your guests. There are times when we do have to start the cooking process away from the venue for one reason or another but the majority of our pigs are cooked at your venue.
An occasion when we do start the cooking very early at our premises is when we provide pulled pork. This is when the pig is cooked on a slightly lower heat for a longer period. The meat is pulled off the bone with a couple of forks and we mix in our chilli mix and serve with an apple slaw… simply delicious when served in warm pitta bread.
Sue’s guests could not get enough and all though we never had a large queue as it was so cold, the guests kept coming in dribs and drabs, racing outside filling their plates with second and third helpings and then running back in to the warmth of the pavilion.
The hog was devoured and everyone was commenting on how great the crackling was and asking for tips on how to get the perfect crackling. Our answer was get Spitting Pig Hertfordshire to cater for your next party.
Sue’s evening was a huge success and we left them around ten o’clock to party the night away as we headed back to our hog roast Hemel Hempstead unit to unpack the van and get the equipment ready for the next function.
Spitting Pig Hertfordshire are getting booked up very quickly and already we have some weekends during the summer where we are fully booked. It looks like we are going to be going to a lot of parties again this year.
