This weekend saw hundreds of athletes begin the long and arduous road of cycling all the way from Bilbao right through France to the incredible Champs-Élysées in Paris. The Tour de France is a pinnacle of athletic prowess with the athletes spending whole days cycling and taking on multiple varying challenges that test every part of their strengths. Of course, we at Hog Roast Bishops Stortford are nowhere near doing such a thing. By all means we would love to be able to tackle such a task if we could. But no, we instead are far happier just catering our foods to those that are watching!
Yes, this past weekend Hog Roast Bishops Stortford got on our bike (not literally, of course) to rush out to a couple of Tour de France watch parties wherein we supplied the day with plenty of refreshments and foods to enjoy. It’s hungry work watching other humans tackle one of the hardest sporting challenges in the world, so of course we had full buffets for our guests consisting of many delicious roast, grilled, and freshly prepared foods. Our hog roast, for one, is an excellent pairing for watching all of the Tour action. We prepare our hog roast from fresh pork’s and cook it over many hours in the authentic spit roast fashion. Not quite as many hours as the cyclists are cycling for, mind you, but still plenty to get it to an incredible level of taste and texture wherein the meat just falls of the bone with ease and comes furnished with a delicious crisp texturing around the skin and a mouth-watering tenderness on the meat itself. Now that is something to cycle home for!
Our roast can be served in a few ways, and for a watch party where guests are keeping their eyes glued to the action on screen we found it best to prepare our spit roast pulled pork style. This means that it can be used as a perfect filling for a rolls or wrap, making it easy to pick up from our buffet table and take back to your seat without missing so much as a beat. Even the cyclists could probably chomp on one while on the road!
