Christening In Bedmond

Today we are hog roast catering in Bedmond. We are actually based in Hemel so it is nice to be spit roast catering on our doorstep, and we might as well be because the event is for a Christening at a School. It is just a short drive from where we live. Our children were educated at the School and we attend occasionally so we are very familiar with the venue. We have also catered many times at the School for various events in the past and it was at one of these events earlier in the year that Elizabeth attended and was so impressed she took a business card away with her and promptly booked us to provide a hog roast in Bedmond for her Daughters Christening.

Normally when we provide hog roast catering in Bedmond, we cook from fresh on site….. We generally arrive at your venue about six hours before your serve time to set up our catering tent which will be home for our kitchen and serving area, and then start cooking your hog roast. Then when your guests arrive at your event, whether it is a garden party for a mile stone Birthday, or the occasion is for your hog roast wedding catering in Bedmond, they are greeted by our chefs in our smart attire, busy preparing your chosen menu under our catering gazebos. Our serving tables will be set with crisp linen table cloths and gleaming chaffing dishes ready for serving.  The hog roast will be slowly roasting and the venue will be engulfed with the sweet aroma of your hog roast banquet….. Your guests will be drawn to the spectacle of the spit roast and the smell will tantalise the taste buds for several hours before serve time. This is part of the theatre of hog roast catering and this is why a spit roast is the perfect choice for your next event. Sometimes though, we cannot cook from fresh on site for many different reasons and on this occasion it is because access to the school was not available until 11:00 am and with a serving time of 12:30 pm, a different approach was needed.  But it is no problem for us at hog roast Bedmond …. I was up bright and early and started the hog roast cooking at six o’clock in our catering premises. As we knew the venue very well we were able to set up the marquee and serving tables and have everything in place and we were ready for when the school hall was opened. I then returned to our catering unit and loaded the hog (which was almost cooked) into the van and transported it to the school and re lit the burners of the machine to completely finish the hog roast and bring it back up to the required serving temperature of seventy five degrees C before it is ready to serve.

20140706_132102As the guests came out of the church they could smell the hog roast and simply followed their noses to the hall. Their nostrils were engulfed with the aroma that filled the air from our pig, which was now perfectly cooked with golden crisp crackling and as they strolled across the playground they were still greeted by us and many took photos.  We lifted the hog into the carving position ready to serve and were instantly mobbed by a few guests eager to be our crackling testers. Then we served the hog with a nice green salad which included baby spinach, rocket, peppery watercress, peppers, cucumber, celery and spring onion and for a bit of colour we add sweet chilli pearls…. You may not have come across these but they are tiny red round chilies that look like mini tomatoes….they are just delicious and give the salad a little bit of a kick as they pop inside your mouth and the juices mix with the flavours of the leaves. The salad was served with creamy coleslaw which again goes so well with roast pork and hot new potatoes with fresh mint and herb butter. The guests braved the elements to get served…. It was a complete contrast to the previous day. It was cold and very windy but in all we cannot complain….. We have had a lovely summer which has continued into November with warm still nights giving lots of people a chance to enjoy autumn hog roast catering outside in their gardens.

The hog roast was absolutely devoured as guests returned for seconds and even third helpings and we were once again left with nothing more than a skeleton to clear away. Once again our hog roast in Bedmond was a huge success and further more so was Elizabeth’s Daughters Christening celebration. With the help of hog roast Bedmond on your special day, whatever the occasion can be taken care off by us leaving you relax and enjoy your event knowing your hog roast catering is in the safest hands.
